The Cecil Lewis Sculpture Scholarship of £10,000 is available for one Home, EU or International student accepted on either a one or two year Master’s Degree course to study Sculpture at University of the Arts London, with the primary focus of their practice to produce objects existing in 3 dimension.
Applications are encouraged from students who will benefit from postgraduate studies to realise their full potential and make an exceptional contribution to the fine arts. The Scholarship will be awarded according to financial need and academic merit.
To be eligible for the Cecil Lewis Scholarship, applicants must:
• Be accepted on the full-time MA Fine Art at Chelsea College of Arts, MA Fine Art at Central Saint Martins or MFA Fine Art at Wimbledon College of Arts commencing September or October 201 5.
AND • Be an undergraduate student expecting to graduate with a first or 2:1 in a Bachelors Degree (with Honors’) from a Higher Education institution, or an HE accredited Further Education institution by 31 st July 201 5.
OR • Be a graduate, having already gained a first or 2:1 in a Bachelors Degree from a Higher Education institution, or an HE accredited Further Education institution.
OR • Be able to demonstrate substantial equivalent and applicable experience (For applicants without a bachelor’s degree)
Benefits of Cecil Lewis Sculpture Scholarship The scholarship will cover full tuition fees and a contribution to course associated costs for one Home/EU student.
For International students, the scholarship is a contribution to tuition fees. Tuition fees will be paid directly from the award to the University’s Tuition Fees account. Any remaining funds will be paid to the student in instalments if the scholarship recipient is a Home/EU student. Applicants must enrol on the MA course in the same academic year for which they have applied for funding. If any applicant is unable to do this for any reason, the scholarship will be withdrawn.
The Cecil Lewis Sculpture Scholarship holder will be expected to attend all timetabled classes and tutorials, excepting periods of absence due to illness. Any student with an unacceptable attendance record may risk the termination of their Scholarship. The scholarship recipient is expected to attend a small number of College and University events promoting scholarship support to potential donors, and to meet with scholarship supporters at these events, during and wherever convenient after completing their course.
The college will terminate the award if a registration lapse on any grounds, other than temporary suspension of study due to extenuating circumstances, which must be drawn to the attention of the relevant course director at the college through formal procedures and upheld by the college’s Extenuating Circumstances Panel.
The Selection Procedure for Applications
Applications will be initially assessed by University of the Arts London Student Funding Service based on the financial information supplied in your application and ranked according to financial need. Further evidence may be requested at a later date. Applications shortlisted as a result of the above process will then be forwarded onto a selection panel at the college who will make the final decision by ascertaining the academic potential of each application. The panel’s judgment is final and no correspondence whatsoever will be entered into over the decision that has been made.
How To Apply for the Cecil Lewis Sculpture Scholarship
Applications must be made online. You will need to fill in an online application. In addition to the online application form, you will need to send the following supplementary materials:
1 . An electronic portfolio sent via dropbox to firstname.lastname@example.org containing 1 PDF document which must include:
Title of publication / image
Date of publication and
Size of original work
Your portfolio should be an example of what you consider to be your best work for the Selection Panel to review.
2. A copy of your most up to date Curriculum Vitae (CV)
3. An academic or professional reference
4. A copy of your passport
5. Last three months bank statements
6. Evidence of financial need
7. Evidence of medical condition (where appropriate)
Closing Date All applications must be received by 1 pm, Wednesday 15th July 2015.
There is only one closing date for all applications each year. We are unable to accept applications that arrive late. Incomplete applications will not be accepted.
