DAAD GERLS Master Scholarship For Egyptians To Study in Germany, 2016

Applications are invited for DAAD GERLS (German-Egyptian Research Long-Term Scholarship) for 2016-17 academic year. Up to 81 scholarships will be awarded for Egyptian young researchers who have been awarded their Master’s degree recently and would like to continue their PhD-related research in Germany. The deadline for applications is 31st October 2015.

Brief Description: The German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) and the Egyptian Ministry of Higher Education are happy to publish the 8th call of their joint funding programme GERLS. The target groups for this programme are young researchers who have been awarded their Master’s degree recently and would like to continue their PhD-related research in Germany. GERLS is a direct outcome of the German-Egyptian Year of Science and Technology 2007. Following types of scholarships will be awarded:
-Full PhD Scholarship up to 42 months in all fields of academic studies except the ones mentioned under Specialization. PhD will be awarded by a German university.
-Channel Scholarship up to 24 months in all fields of study except the ones mentioned under Specialization. PhD will be awarded by an Egyptian university.
-Specialization Scholarship up to 24 months for the study of fine and applied arts, architecture and music without resulting in a degree.

Award Includes: The GERLS scholarship includes:
-A monthly basic stipend of 1000 Euros for a Ph.D. candidate, plus individual surcharges and standard annual allowances.
-A monthly family allowance if applicable.
-An allowance for health insurance.
-German language course and cultural preparation course.

Study Program: Scholarships are available for students would like to continue their PhD-related research in Germany.

Study Major: Scholarships are awarded in the scientific fields.

Host Organization: German and Egypt Universities

Number of Awards: The German Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Egyptian Ministry of Higher Education offer up to 81 postgraduate scholarships to Egyptian doctoral candidates within the GERLS program every year.

National/International Students: Egyptian researchers are eligible to apply of this DAAD GERLS program.

Governing Body: The German Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Egyptian Ministry of Higher Education

Application Procedure: The application will be submitted online through the DAAD portal. 3 copies from the complete “Application Summary” have to be sent to the DAAD Cairo office via post latest by the deadline.

Submission Deadline: The deadline for application is 31st October 2015.
