For external applicants, the fellowship includes CHF 16’000 per academic year split into monthly payments (i.e. CHF 32’000 for a 2-year Master’s or CHF 24’000 for a 1 and 1/2 year Master’s) and reservation of a room in students accommodation.
Note that accommodation, tuition fees, visa fees, etc. must be paid by the fellowship holder.
Method of Application
The application is done via the same online form than your application to a Master’s program. It is however necessary to tick a box indicating that your profile should also be considered for an excellence fellowship. Applications must be filled in and submitted within the application periods, but before the deadline dates (see below).

Applications can be filled online from mid-November to the 15th of January, or from the 16th of January to the 15th of April. Candidates who need a visa are strongly advised to apply by the January deadline.
Cumulating this fellowship with other substantial scholarships isn’t possible. Candidates are required to declare all the scholarships they will receive during their master’s and cases will be evaluated one by one.
Candidates to an excellence fellowship receive an answer about their application at the same time than the answer concerning their application to a Master’s program. It consists of an email sent at the beginning of March (January deadline) or the beginning of June (April deadline).
