2016 Cardiff University Funded PhD Studentship in Chemical Biology, UK

Cardiff University is pleased to offer studentship in Chemical Biology to undertake PhD degree programme. Studentship is awarded to students of any nationality.

The aim of the PhD studentship is to enable and encourage academically able students from any nationality.

Applicants should have, or expect to obtain, a minimum of an upper second-class honours degree (2:1) or European equivalent and a Masters in Chemistry, Biochemistry or a related discipline. Applicants whose first language is not English will be required to demonstrate proficiency in the English language (IELTS 6.5 or equivalent)

Course Level: Studentship is awarded to undertake PhD degree programme.

Study Subject: Studentship is tenable in Chemical Biology: ‘Manufacturing novel artificial enzymes.

Scholarship Award: This studentship consists of full UK/EU tuition fees, as well as a Doctoral Stipend matching UK Research Council National Minimum (£14,057 p.a. for 2015/16, updated each year).

Eligibility: Residency: This studentship is open to students of any nationality. Students classified as international for fee purposes have to self-fund the difference between home and international fees.
Academic criteria: Applicants should have, or expect to obtain, a minimum of an upper second-class honours degree (2:1) or European equivalent and a Masters in Chemistry, Biochemistry or a related discipline.
-The successful candidate will also have a strong background in biochemistry and organic chemistry. First-hand experience in a relevant area of chemistry such as enzymology and synthetic chemistry is highly desirable.
-A highly motivated and dedicated student will gain a thorough training in synthetic biology and be rewarded with a highly stimulating project that will shape the future of this exciting new research program.
