University of Italian in Switzerland Study Grant Program At The Faculty of Informatics, 2016

University of Italian Switzerland is offering up to 5 study grants for Swiss and international students at the Faculty of Informatics. Grants are available for students admitted to the first year of the masters in Informatics, Computational Science or Management & Informatics for the academic year 2016/2017.

These grants are offered to provide financial assistance to the students.

The University of Italian Switzerland is an Italian- and English-speaking university that comprises four Faculties: Architecture on the Mendrisio campus; Communication Sciences, Economics, and Informatics on the Lugano campus.

Applicants must be proficient in English or Italian language.

Course Level: Grants are available for pursuing master’s programme.

 Study Subject: Grants are available at the Faculty of Informatics.

List of Subjects: Informatics, Computational Science or Management & Informatics

Scholarship Award: The study grant is awarded in the form of a reduction of the tuition fee and cannot be exchanged for cash. If the beneficiary decides not to register at USI or withdraws after the first semester, he/she may not, under any circumstances, ask for a deposit of the grant.

Eligibility: In order to apply for scholarship, applicant must follow the given criteria:
-Applicants must have obtained the Bachelor’s degree (passed all exams and defended the thesis) by July 31st, 2016 with a cumulative GPA of at least 80/100.
-Applicants must have been admitted to the first year of a Master programme at the Faculty of Informatics of USI (Informatics, Computational Science, Management & Informatics) beginning in September 2016.

Nationality: Swiss and international students can apply for these study grants.

College Admission Requirement

Entrance Requirement: The following are eligible to study in a Master’s programme in Economics, Communication Sciences, and Informatics:
-Bachelor’s graduates of the University of Italian Switzerland: Admission is unconditional in the same subject or special field, but extra course credits may be required for other disciplines.
-Bachelor’s graduates from other universities: The appropriate Faculty reserves the right to indicate specific course deficits after an assessment of the candidate’s academic record.
-Candidates with a four-year degree from USI or any other Swiss public University (Licenza, Lizenziat, Licence): Graduates under the old system and regulations, with a compatible degree curriculum, may be awarded a Master’s degree of the University of Italian Switzerland by earning 60 study credits and possibly some supplementary course work.
-Candidates with a postgraduate degree from other countries: Graduates with a compatible degree curriculum worth more than a Bachelor’s, may ask for some transfer credits, if any of the subjects proposed in the curriculum of the Master applied for corresponds to subjects already taken.
-Candidates holding a diploma awarded by a Swiss university of applied sciences (SUPSI, FHS, HES) in accordance with the agreement CRUS/KFH/COHEP or another university of applied sciences if considered equivalent: Students may be admitted to study at USI for a Master’s degree in a compatible field of studies by obtaining an additional 60 study credits (at the most).

English Language Requirement: Applicant must be proficient in English or Italian language.

Supporting Material: For the Faculties of Economics, Communication Sciences and Informatics only, prospect students are allowed to apply through a paper application form and attach the required documentation.
-The application package, to be sent in paper form, will include:
-The completed application form
-Photocopy of past diplomas (Bachelor, licentiate, four-year degree, maturity);
-Official transcript of results of university examinations;
-Certified translation of any diplomas written in a language other than Italian, German, French, English, or Spanish;
-Curriculum vitae
-Personal letter of motivation drafted by the candidate;
-Official certification of proficiency in English or Italian;
-Photocopy of an identity card or other document;
-Photocopy of residence permit for foreign nationals already domiciled in Switzerland.
