2016 KWEF Research Grant Program For Students From Asia

Kurita Water and Environment Foundation is pleased to offer research grant program for overseas research. These grants are intended to support academic research in field of water resources.

The aim of the KWEF Research Grant Program is to enable and encourage academically able students from ASIAN countries.

The Kurita Water and Environment Foundation (KWEF) is a nonprofit organization established on March 12,1997. It supports scientists in ASIAN countries who are conducting research in their own countries on the conservation and restoration of water resources.

The applicant must conduct research at university, college, or associated institute. Applicants from outside the home country will often need to meet specific English language/other language requirements in order to be able to study there.

Course Level: These grants are intended to support academic research.

Study Subject: Any research subject in field of water resources is acceptable, provided that the water area studied is located in the researcher’s home country. Examples of appropriate research subjects are
-Physical and chemical properties of water
-New technologies for conservation and restoration of water resources. (River, Lake, Pond, Discharge etc.)
-New technologies for water measurement and assessment

Scholarship Award: Maximum of 300,000 yen per project per year
Notes:
-The KWEF Research Grant should be used for the basic expenses of the research program, such as the purchase of equipment and reagent, travel costs, and other expenses associated with fieldwork.
-Recipient would inform us the bank account which could handle US dollar.

Scholarship can be taken at: Asian Countries except Thailand, Indonesia and Vietnam (applicants home countries)

Eligibility: -The applicant must reside in Asian countries?except Thailand,Indonesia and Vietnam.?
-The applicant must conduct research at university, college, or associated institute.
-The applicant would be 40years old or less.
-The applicant must submit a recommendation letter of “Japanese researcher” .

Nationality: Applicants from all Asian Countries except Thailand, Indonesia and Vietnam are eligible to apply for this research grant.

List of Countries: Afghanistan, Azerbaijan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Brunei, Cambodia, Kingdom of China, People’s Rep., India, Japan, Kazakhstan, Korea, Kyrgyzstan, Laos, Democratic Rep., Malaysia, Mongolia, Myanmar, Nepal, North Korea, Pakistan, Islamic Rep. of Philippines, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Tajikistan, Kingdom of Timor – Leste, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan

College Admission Requirement

Entrance Requirement: The applicant must conduct research at university, college, or associated institute.

Test Requirement: No

English Language Requirements: Applicants from outside the home country will often need to meet specific English language/other language requirements in order to be able to study there.

-Application Form for Research Grant in English or Japanese.
-Recommendation letter of Japanese Researcher (one page, in Japanese or English)
