Apply For 2017 DairyNZ Masters Scholarships at Universities In New Zealand

Applications are invited for DairyNZ Masters Scholarships at Massey University, Lincoln University and the University of Waikato. Students of New Zealand can apply for these scholarships.

These scholarships offer a tremendous prospect to kick start a career in R&D. On completion of a Master’s degree in farm systems, it is expected that scholars will apply for employment opportunities at DairyNZ as either Doctoral Students studying specialist dairy science fields, or as Graduate Developers.

DairyNZ’s job is to support on-farm change, create on-farm opportunities, build capability and mitigate risk to achieve the industry’s strategic objectives. This is being done through research, development, engagement and leadership.

Applicants must be in their final year of, or completed, a bachelor degree in science, agricultural science, agricultural business or economics and be eligible to enrol in a research-based Master degree majoring in science, agricultural science, or agricultural business, at a New Zealand university.

Course Level: Scholarships are available for pursuing masters degree program at Lincoln, Massey or Waikato University.

Study Subject: Scholarships are available to outstanding graduates with a strong career motivation for dairy research and development (R&D).

Scholarship Award: The value of each scholarship is $30,000 per annum, plus course fees. Funding will be provided for a maximum of:

  • 12 months for students with Honours
  • 18 months for students without Honours

Scholarship can be taken in New Zealand

Eligibility: 

  • Applicants must be in their final year of, or completed, a bachelor degree in science, agricultural science, agricultural business or economics
  • Be eligible to enroll in a Master degree majoring in science, agricultural science, or agricultural business, at a New Zealand university
  • Be either a New Zealand Citizen or New Zealand Permanent Resident
  • Applicants must be willing to relocate, if required, to Hamilton, Palmerston North or Lincoln (determined by research locality), and be situated at a DairyNZ office for the duration of their study
  • The scholarship is available for up to 1.5 years and covers the annual tuition fees plus $30,000 p.a.

Nationality: Students from New Zealand can apply for these scholarships.

College Admission Requirement

Entrance Requirement: Applicants must be in their final year of, or completed, a bachelor degree in science, agricultural science, agricultural business or economics, and be eligible to enrol in a research-based Master degree majoring in science, agricultural science, or agricultural business, at a New Zealand university.

Test Requirement: Not Required

English Language Requirements: Not Required

How to Apply: Complete the scholarship application form at the bottom of this page and email your completed application to jennie.burke-at-dairynz.co.nz. Documentation required:

  • Cover letter
  • Curriculum Vitae (to include contact details for two referees (at least one academic referee)
  • Copy of academic transcript
  • Written presentation stating applicant’s research interests, their intentions following completion of a masterate degree, and what involvement they will have in the New Zealand dairy industry (500 words maximum).
  • A written presentation demonstrating applicant’s leadership skills and/or their involvement with the community, sports or other activities (500 words maximum).
  • Proof of NZ citizenship or permanent residency (scan or copy of birth certificate or passport)
