English/Linguistics Scholarships for International Students at Lancaster University in UK, 2017

The Lancaster University is offering Faculty Research Scholarships at the Department of Linguistics and English Language. These scholarships are open to full- and part-time students and is limited to non-Home/EU students.

Lancaster University, also officially known as the University of Lancaster, is a public research university in Lancaster, Lancashire, England.

Applicants whose first language is not English may be required to provide a valid English language test certificate such as IELTS, Pearson Test of English, Academic, (PTE) or Cambridge English: Proficiency (CPE).

Course Level: Scholarships are available for pursuing a research programme.

Study Subject: Scholarships are awarded to the Department of Linguistics and English Language.

Scholarship Award: The bursary takes the form of a fee waiver for the duration of an individual’s PhD studies. This bursary is open to full- and part-time students, and is limited to non-Home/EU students.

Scholarship can be taken in the UK

Eligibility: The scholarships will be awarded on a competitive basis. Candidates for a scholarship will be ranked based on the following criteria in order of priority:

  • Potential for an original contribution.
  • Evidence of scholarly ability:

Clear and concise description of the study
Awareness of current literature in the field
Understanding of research methodology appropriates for an early-stage postgraduate student
A research project that can be completed within the timeframe allowed for a PhD

Nationality: Scholarships are open to overseas (non-UK/EU) applicants.

College Admission Requirement

Entrance Requirement: University asks the student to check the entry requirements for their country before they apply.

English Language Requirement: University expects students who are non-native speakers of English, and who do not have an MA from an English-medium University, to have an IELTS score of at least 6.5 overall with at least 6.5 in the reading and writing elements and 6.0 in the listening and speaking elements.
