2017 Summer Research Experience for Undergraduates at MRSEC in USA

The Northwestern University Materials Research Science & Engineering Center offers a Research Experience for Undergraduates (REU) program over a 9-week period each summer.

REU students will have the opportunity to contribute to a research project led by a center faculty member and will participate in interdisciplinary research group meetings, expanding their science and engineering experience into a range of fields.

The NU-Materials Research Science and Engineering Center is an interdisciplinary program focused on multi-functional nanoscale material structures.

NU-MRSEC seeks to revitalize interest in science and engineering by creating innovative outreach infrastructure and programs designed to inform the public about current trends in research, to inspire future scientists, and to ensure a pipeline of talented and diverse students interested in pursuing materials-related research.

Course Level: Scholarships is available for Undergraduate students.

Study Subject: Research program is awarded in Science or Engineering.

Scholarship Award: REU participants receive a stipend of $4,500, plus on-campus housing and a travel allowance.

Eligibility:

  • U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident.
  • There is no strict GPA requirement, the average GPA of admitted students is typically above 3.5.
  • Most accepted students are rising junior and seniors, though we encourage exceptional younger students who have some independent research experience to apply.
  • Must not have completed degree before the program begins.
  • Students with an interest in nanomaterials and majoring in a science or engineering field are encouraged to apply.

Nationality: U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident are eligible to apply for this scholarship.
