Canon Collins Scholarships 2017 for Masters Study in UK

Canon Collins Trust invites applications for scholarships for postgraduate study in the United Kingdom commencing in September 2017. Trust supports these scholarships for study at the following universities: School of Oriental and African Studies, University of Sussex, University of Oxford & St Antony’s College, University of Sheffield and Queen Mary, University of London. There are approximately 7 scholarships which include full tuition fees, a monthly stipend, a return economy flight, a settling-in allowance and other support whilst in the UK.

Level: Master’s Degree (Scholarships are available for pursuing master’s degree level at the following universities: School of Oriental and African Studies, University of Sussex, University of Oxford & St Antony’s College, University of Sheffield and Queen Mary, University of London.)

Field(s): The School of Oriental and African Studies and University of Sussex scholarships are open to any subject field. The University of Oxford scholarship is limited to the MSc in African Studies and the University of Sheffield scholarship is limited to Masters study courses in the field of International Development offered by the Department of Geography. The scholarship at Queen Mary is limited to the MSc in Global Public Health and Policy.

Award No: There are approximately 7 scholarships available in 2016. However the Trust makes awards on the basis of available funding and suitable applicants and numbers may vary. The selection process is highly competitive. The Trust makes awards to fewer than 5% of those who apply. Please apply only if you meet all the criteria.

Eligibility

 

To apply for Canon Collins Scholarships for Masters Study in UK under this programme you must:

‣ Be a national of, or have refugee status, in one of the following countries: Angola, Botswana, Lesotho, Malawi, Mozambique, Namibia, South Africa, Swaziland, Zambia, and Zimbabwe.

‣ 
Be normally resident in southern Africa

‣ Be in possession of a good first degree (minimum second class, upper division or equivalent) or about to graduate in the year of application;

‣ Be applying for a full-time one-year taught masters course at one of the above named universities.

‣ Have at least 2 years work experience in a relevant field

‣ These Canon Collins scholarships will be awarded on the basis of the Academic Record and References, Relevance to Priority Areas, Work Experience, Leadership Competencies & Personal Qualities and Commitment to Country/Community.

Notification: 

‣ Successful applicants will be notified by June 2017.

‣ Scholarships will only be awarded upon confirmation that applicants have been offered a place at one of the above universities.

‣ Applicants must apply separately to the university. At the time of applying for a scholarship applicants are expected to be in the process of applying for admission to the university of their choice.

‣ Applicants who wish to study at Oxford should be aware that the application window for the university closes in February 2017.

‣ Scholarship Applications are due on Friday 24 March 2017. Late and incomplete applications will not be considered.
